Hi!
Unfortunately I missed the first campus session. Please could someone update me on what I missed? Did you all get put into groups?
I've begun writing a draft of chapters 1, 2 and 4 - even though i know i need to do chapter 3! I keep putting that one off!
How is everyone else doing???
I had a Skype chat with Paula a couple of weeks ago which helped me to talk through my ideas and where the project is going in terms of what i have discovered so far and what extra things i have added.
It was very useful discussing my ideas out loud with someone as it helped me to focus on exactly what i need to do and how i need to go about writing it all up.
Is anyone else analysing interviews as their data?!! If so please let me know.
Thanks for any help!!!

Journal Entry Number 5
Over the past few weeks I have been working incessantly on module 3835.
I have completed the first draft of nearly all the components however I feel I need some feedback from my tutor before I can improve on them further. I am continuing to research all aspects of my project for the proposal.
I wish more advice had been given throughout the module about how to write a proposal as I have no existing knowledge on the process. I have however, read up as much as I could find on the subject. There has been so much to consider and research for this proposal.
Writing the proposal has really made me consider every possible outcome and all the planning and preparation which is required for an investigation - from the ethics to the methodologies, from the organisation and timetabling to the research and reading. Not only have I studied my subject topic in depth, I have also studied learning methods and research techniques which I hope will make me a more efficient and effective researcher.
One thing I have struggled with throughout the module is having so few lectures and opportunities to meet with my tutor for feedback. As the nature of the course is to study on your own and acquire knowledge in an organic way, I am often concerned that I am on the wrong lines and would like some confirmation that I am on the right track. Perhaps this highlights that I am the sort of person who likes to be reassured I am doing things well or correctly, when instead I should have more confidence in my abilities. I think the reason I like to know I am on the right lines is so I don’t waste time writing irrelevant information. However, I am aware that making mistakes is also an excellent way to learn!

What is the Critical Commentary???
I am unsure as to what this is supposed to contain...
Is it supposed to refer to out journal entries?
Does anyone know if we have been given any insight or information on this?
Thanks!

Journal Entry Number 4
The campus session on 30/03/2010 was extremely useful and has helped me to understand what further work is required for the remainder of this module.
Having already completed the first draft of my project proposal prior to the campus session, I was able to discuss it with my tutor. From the lecture I learned how I need to restructure my proposal to add clarity to my ideas. My tutor also pointed out numerous ways in which I can improve my proposal by making it more critical and adding secondary research sources to back up ideas.
I have begun to write my Ethical Issues Commentary so I feel I am making headway with all the work still to be done. Considering the ethical issues has helped me to clarify some of the practicalities of carrying out the investigation.
I am now focussing on time management to ensure I divide my time effectively and use it efficiently to complete all the written work for the module and also to research the topic of my investigation. I intend to read as much as I can on ethics and the methodologies I plan to use in the investigation to give weight to my proposal.
